Routing Switcher Support in Spyder

Summary

Spyder can optionally control one or more third-party routing switchers, allowing users to dynamically switch the incoming video content onto one or more Spyder inputs. This article lists the currently supported manufacturer routers, and describes the process of requesting the implementation of a new router protocol.

Currently Supported Routers

The list below contains the manufacturer protocols supported within Spyder. Although protocols differ between manufacturers, typically router protocols are identical between different versions of products offered by the same manufacturer. Unless specifically noted, the protocol list below denotes Manufacturers as opposed to specific product models.

  • AutoPatch
  • DTrovision
  • DTrovision II
  • Extron (IP / Serial)
  • Folsom MatrixPRO (IP / Serial)
  • FSR PathFinder (IP / Serial)
  • GrassValley Encore
  • ISIS (IP / Serial)
  • Knox RSII
  • Kramer 2000
  • Leitch (IP / Serial)
  • Lightware (IP / Serial)
  • Magenta Mondo
  • Network VikinX / Sublime
  • Pesa
  • ProBel SWP02
  • Quartz
  • Ross
  • Sierra
  • Sigma
  • ThinkLogical DCS (IP / Serial)

Requesting new Router Implementation

Vista is always working to expand the list of routing switchers supported with Spyder. Before starting the process of adding a new router to the Spyder system, ensure the following criteria:

  1. Customer making request holds a valid maintenance contract. Without a maintenance contract, Spyder owners will be unable to update their Spyder software to take advantage of the new router implementation.
  2. Router is capabile of being controlled via RS-232 serial or IP.
  3. Customer is capable of supplying a target router to Vista for up to seven (7) days for implementation and verification testing.

After ensuring the criteria above has been met, the request for router integration with Spyder begins with a customer contacting Vista technical support staff. A support technician will schedule an implementation plan, as well as co-ordinate the arrival of the router hardware with the customer. After the implementation and verification processes have completed, Vista may (at Vista's discression) release a patch or beta software build containing the router support until the next public release software version is available.

Note: If Vista determines that an implementation cannot be completed, Vista reserves the right to opt-out of support for the target routing switcher for any reason. This occurance is rare, and typical reasons for this include an incomplete protocol or the routing hardware failing integration stress / validation testing.

Status

The supported router list available in this article is current as of version 2.10.5 of the Spyder software platform.
